Chateau Lascombes
Margaux • Deuxième Cru Classé 1855
"The elegance of a Second Growth: where the architecture of the Margaux terroir reaches its silkiest and most contemporary expression."
Heritage and Exceptional Terroir
Located in the heart of the AOC Margaux, Chateau Lascombes stands out for having one of the most extensive and geologically diverse vineyards in the Médoc. Its terroir is a mosaic of Quaternary gravels and deep clays, allowing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to coexist in an unusual balance for the Left Bank.
As a Deuxième Cru Classé, a title granted in the historic 1855 Classification, Lascombes represents the aristocracy of Bordeaux. Under the current technical direction, the winery has perfected an oenological precision that highlights the aromatic finesse of violet, a distinctive hallmark of the great wines of this appellation.
Portfolio Selection
Chateau Lascombes (Grand Vin)
The ultimate expression of the property. According to the technical sheet of Chateau Lascombes, it is a powerful wine yet with velvety tannins, aged in new oak that imparts notes of dark chocolate and spices.
Chevalier de Lascombes
A second wine designed for immediate pleasure. It offers a fleshy texture and an explosion of ripe red fruit, maintaining the characteristic elegance of Margaux.
Le Haut-Médoc de Lascombes
Coming from selected plots outside the Margaux limits, this wine stands out for its freshness and vibrancy, capturing the essence of the region according to the CIVB.
Mastery in Aging
The secret to its texture lies in lees aging. This method, documented by Decanter critics, provides an unctuousness and volume on the palate that redefines the Margaux standard.
Frequently Asked Questions about Lascombes
Is it necessary to decant these wines?
For young vintages, we recommend decanting for 1 to 2 hours. As suggested by the WSET, aeration allows the structure of a Grand Cru to open up and soften its tannins before serving.
