Agri-Roncão Winery
Douro & Minho • Portugal • Precision Viticulture
"The mastery that unites the telluric force of the Douro Valley with the Atlantic freshness of the Vinho Verde region."
Family Tradition and Excellence in Portugal
Founded in 2001 by Domingos Ribeiro, Agri-Roncão represents the culmination of a family dream dedicated to the land. With over 60 hectares of its own vineyards, the winery stands out for its vertical control of production. This commitment to quality has allowed its labels to be positioned under the Wines of Portugal seal as benchmarks of elegance and typicity.
At La Cava Shop, our Agri-Roncão curation includes everything from vibrant white wines from the north to the historic fortified elixirs that have brought world fame to Port wine.
The Terroir: The Duality of Portuguese Lands
Douro Valley: The Cradle of Dr. Port
At Quinta da Levandeira, the soils are mainly composed of schist, a metamorphic rock that forces roots to penetrate meters underground in search of water. This region, protected by the IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto), is the origin of our Port wines. Red grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca provide exceptional structure and longevity here.
Minho: The Freshness of Vinho Verde
Quinta de Linhares is located in the Sousa sub-region, where the climate is milder. Under the regulations of the CVRVV, Agri-Roncão produces Vinho Verde examples that stand out for their balance between citrus acidity and floral notes, mainly using the Alvarinho and Loureiro grapes.
Selection of Emblematic Labels
-
Dr. Port (Port)
Fortified wines that undergo a rigorous aging process. The house's Tawnies offer notes of dried fruits and spices, while the Rubies preserve the primary black fruit.
-
Quinta de Linhares (Vinho Verde)
High-expression single-varietal whites. Linhares' Alvarinho is renowned for its unctuous body and persistence on the palate.
-
Douro Family Estates (Reds)
The representation of the winery's still red wines, with firm tannins and high color concentration.
Connoisseur's FAQs
How to pair a Dr. Port Port?
Port is versatile. Rubies pair perfectly with dark chocolate desserts and blue cheeses. Tawnies shine with dried fruit pastries or as an aperitif. For an exhaustive tasting guide, we recommend the specialized portal For the Love of Port.
Why is it called "Vinho Verde"?
It does not refer to the color of the wine, but to its youth. These wines are meant to be consumed fresh, standing out for their liveliness and slight natural effervescence. Agri-Roncão elevates this concept by producing Vinhos Verdes of great technical complexity.
