Domaine de la Janasse
Châteauneuf-du-Pape • Southern Rhône • France
"In the sun-drenched, stony lands of the Rhône, the Sabon family elevates Grenache to an art form. Domaine de la Janasse is the perfect balance between the opulence of the south and the precision of modern viticulture."
The Sabon Heritage and the Rhône Terroir
Established in 1973 by Aimé Sabon, Domaine de la Janasse has solidified its position as a global benchmark for quality in the production of high-end red wines. The key to its success lies in the mosaic of plots it owns in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, encompassing different soils ranging from fine sands to the famous galets roulés (rolled pebbles) that retain solar heat.
Under the technical direction of Christophe and Isabelle Sabon, the winery has achieved historic 100-point scores in prestigious publications such as The Wine Advocate. La Janasse is a fundamental pillar in our curation of French wines, offering a pure expression of the Grenache variety.
Precision Viticulture and Micro-climates
Unlike other producers, La Janasse vinifies each plot separately to preserve the identity of the soil. This technique, endorsed by institutions such as the Institut Rhodanien, allows cuvées like 'Tradition' to showcase the robustness of the area, while 'Cuvée Chaupin' highlights the finesse of the sands. Their commitment to sustainability and minimal intervention places them at the forefront of the region.
If you wish to explore more emblematic regions, we invite you to discover our selection of Spanish wines or the refined Italian wines, which share with the Rhône that deep connection to the Mediterranean terroir.

La Janasse wines are ideal companions for high-end gastronomy. According to experts from Decanter, their structure requires dishes with aromatic weight such as rosemary lamb or game stews.
Service Protocol: It is recommended to serve between 16°C and 18°C. According to the WSET, a controlled temperature prevents alcohol from overshadowing the subtle aromas of garrigue (wild herbs) typical of Southern France. For an optimal experience, decant young vintages for at least 60 minutes.
