See ChardonnayHow White Wine Is Made
White wine is made by quickly separating the juice from the skins (direct pressing) and fermenting under temperature control, to preserve freshness, fruit character and aromatic precursors. It can then be aged in steel to keep it light, or in barrel and on lees to gain body, texture and notes of butter and toast.
Acidity is the backbone of white wine. In cool areas, such as Chablis or the Loire, it adds tension and nerve; in warm areas, greater ripeness gives fuller wines, with tropical or stone fruit.

Young, light whites between 7 °C and 10 °C; aged or more structured ones between 10 °C and 12 °C.
What is a Blanc de Noirs white wine?
It is a white wine made from red grapes, such as Pinot Noir, pressed gently to extract colorless juice. It is common in Champagne sparkling wines.
How long does an open bottle of white wine last?
