Wines from El Bierzo
Mencía • Godello • Terroir Viticulture
"Where Atlantic freshness embraces Leonese slate: a selection of labels defining the new paradigm of Spanish wine."
The Microclimate and the Slate
Located in a privileged valley in the northwest of León, the D.O. Bierzo enjoys a temperate microclimate that acts as a transition between Galician humidity and Castilian aridity. This environment, together with the emblematic slate and clay soils, gives Mencía a pungent minerality of graphite and gunpowder.
The orography of Bierzo necessitates precise viticulture. Many of our labels come from centuries-old vines whose quality has been endorsed by critics of the stature of Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate), placing the region on the map of world-class wines alongside institutions such as Foods and Wines from Spain.
Pillars of Enological Identity
Mencía: Silky Elegance
Considered the jewel of Bierzo. It produces fluid reds with violet notes, often compared to the great Pinot Noirs of Burgundy for their subtlety.
Godello: Age-worthy White
White wines with volume and vibrant acidity. Their saline complexity has been highlighted in international competitions like the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Terroir Hierarchy
Our collection includes the new official classification approved by ITACyL: Vinos de Villa (municipal expression), Vinos de Paraje (single vineyard uniqueness), and the pinnacle of Viñedo Clasificado (Classified Vineyard).
