Mengoba Godello Viejo
Signature White • El Bierzo
"The nobility of old vines: a cult white that redefines Godello through eighty-year-old vines, achieving a silky structure and a deep slate minerality."
Nobility and Heroic Viticulture
Mengoba Godello Viejo 2022 is a gem of Spanish viticulture signed by Gregory Pérez. Born from the slate soils of Espanillo, this wine comes from high-mountain plots with more than 80 years of age. Its production eschews industrial standards: it ferments and ages in large foudres to gain volume and unctuousness on its own lees, resulting in a white wine with a "red wine soul," powerful, vertical, and loaded with an unmistakable territorial identity.

Nose: Elegant complexity. Aromas of ripe white fruit, wild herbs, and fennel intertwine with a metallic and stony (slate) mineral presence that is the hallmark of Espanillo.
Palate: Powerful and glyceric entry. Presents a vertical and citrus acidity that perfectly balances its unctuousness. The finish is long, saline, and deeply mineral.

5. The Legacy of Gregory Pérez
Gregory Pérez has achieved a perfect harmony at Mengoba between the Burgundian tradition of aging and the ruggedness of the Leonese terroir. By working old vines in an artisanal way, each bottle of Godello Viejo is a testament to longevity and purity, positioning itself as one of Spain's white wines with the most personality.
