MARSILIANA
2016 TENUTA MARSILIANA

MAREMMA TOSCANA • IGT • PRINCIPE CORSINI

"The encounter between the spirit of Bordeaux and the wild soul of Maremma: a wine of absolute nobility."

🇮🇹 ORIGIN: MAREMMA, TUSCANY, ITALY | 🍇 GRAPE: CABERNET SAUVIGNON, MERLOT, PETIT VERDOT | 🏺 WINERY: TENUTA MARSILIANA

An Aristocrat of the Coast

Marsiliana 2016 is the flagship wine of the estate that the Corsini family owns in Maremma. In this corner of the Tuscan coast, international varieties find a warm home, yet refreshed by the sea breeze. The 2016 vintage allowed this blend to achieve exceptional phenolic maturity. With 15 months of aging in French barrels, the wine has developed a complexity that intertwines the power of Cabernet with the silkiness of Merlot, resulting in a "Super Tuscan" of great lineage and mineral depth.

1. Identity Profile

Winery: Tenuta Marsiliana (Principe Corsini).

Origin: Maremma Toscana IGT.

Vintage: 2016 (Collector's vintage).

Aging: 15 months in French oak barrels and a minimum of 12 months in bottle.

Soils: Rich in iron, pebbles, and clay.

Potential: At its optimal drinking moment, with a lifespan of 10+ years.

2. Sommelier's Notes

Appearance: Dark, almost impenetrable ruby red color, with garnet reflections indicating its noble evolution.

Nose: A complex array starting with black mulberries, cassis, and ripe plum, opening up to notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, old leather, and a balsamic touch of eucalyptus and Mediterranean scrub.

Palate: Powerful and velvety entry. The tannins are perfectly polished by time. It presents an imposing structure, balanced by a mineral freshness that extends the finish towards notes of sweet spices and graphite.

4. Pairing and Suggested Moments

Gastronomy: This wine demands dishes of great structure. It is the perfect accompaniment for premium red meat cuts, stewed wild boar, duck à l'orange, or long-aged cheeses like Tuscan Pecorino with truffle. Its complexity also harmonizes with big game dishes.

Suggested Moments:

  • Business: A wine that commands respect and demonstrates great oenological culture at decision-making tables.
  • Special Celebration: Perfect for anniversaries or milestones where a wine from a historic vintage like 2016 is sought.
  • Romantic Dinner: Its silkiness and evolved bouquet create an atmosphere of sophistication and mystery.
  • Signature Gift: An exceptional gift for collectors who appreciate the Bordeaux style interpreted by Tuscan nobility.
  • Gourmet Barbecue: The structure of the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon elevates any high-end barbecue.
  • Family Meal: The centerpiece of a Sunday table celebrating tradition and good living.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

Is it necessary to decant Marsiliana 2016?

Yes. As a wine with years of aging and great structure, we recommend decanting it for at least 60 to 90 minutes to allow oxygen to release all its aromatic layers.

Why is it considered a "Super Tuscan"?

Because it uses international grapes (Cabernet and Merlot) on Tuscan soil, breaking with local traditions to create a wine of superior world quality.

What is the ideal serving temperature?

To appreciate its complexity without the alcohol being dominant, we recommend serving it between 17°C and 18°C.
