CAB FRANC • MALBEC • PETIT VERDOT • ARGENTINA

"The culmination of the Andean blend: a perfect dance of freshness, power, and mineral elegance."

🇦🇷 ORIGIN: GUALTALLARY, UCO VALLEY, MENDOZA | 🍇 GRAPE: BLEND (CAB FRANC, MALBEC, P. VERDOT) | 🏺 WINERY: EL ENEMIGO

The Mastery of the Blend

The Gran Enemigo Blend 2021 is a fundamental piece from the El Enemigo winery. Under the direction of the renowned Alejandro Vigil, this wine is born in the calcareous soils of Gualtallary, at over 1,400 meters above sea level. The 2021 vintage stands out for its masterful balance; it is a wine that does not hide its strength, but presents itself with a silkiness and freshness that invite contemplation. The integration of Petit Verdot provides a layer of depth and color, while Cabernet Franc and Malbec define its aromatic soul and noble structure.

1. Identity Profile

Winery: El Enemigo (Alejandro Vigil & Adrianna Catena).

Origin: Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina.

Vintage: 2021.

Aging: 15 months in centennial French oak foudres.

Volume: 750 ml.

Composition: Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

2. Sommelier's Notes

Appearance: Deep purplish red, clear and highly concentrated.

Nose: Outstanding aromatic intensity. Notes of ripe black fruits like blackberries and blueberries, fused with hints of licorice, cocoa, sweet spices, and the characteristic herbal and mineral (wet stone) profile of Gualtallary.

Palate: Full-bodied with a silky texture. The tannins are fine and firm, perfectly polished. The vibrant acidity typical of the 2021 vintage gives it a freshness that balances the power, culminating in a long, elegant, and spicy finish.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

What does Petit Verdot bring to this Blend?

Petit Verdot acts as an intensifier; it provides deep color, a firm tannic structure, and dense black fruit notes that complement the elegance of the Cab Franc.

How long should it be decanted?

Being a young wine of great concentration, we recommend decanting it for at least 45 to 60 minutes for its aromatic layers to fully express themselves.

Why are foudres used instead of small barrels?

Centennial foudres allow for slower and more subtle micro-oxygenation, preserving the purity of the fruit and the minerality of the terroir without the wood being the protagonist.
