ROCCA NERO DI TROIA
PUGLIA SELECTION

PUGLIA • WINE FROM ITALY

★★★★★ 4.8 / 5 (19 REVIEWS)

"Ancestral elegance and bottled mystery. A deep and aristocratic red that revives the most sophisticated, floral, and structured profile of Puglia's terroir."

🇮🇹 ORIGIN: PUGLIA, ITALY | 🍷 STYLE: INTENSE, FLORAL RED WINE WITH CHARACTER | 🏷️ WINERY: BODEGA ROCCA

The Nobility of a Legendary Varietal in the Heart of Puglia

The Rocca Nero Di Troia Red Wine, Puglia - Wine from Italy represents a fascinating journey into the deepest winemaking roots of southern Italy. Produced with meticulous dedication by the prestigious Bodega Rocca (Vinicola Rocca), this single varietal exalts the virtues of Nero di Troia, a noble and late-ripening grape that has historically been the hidden gem of Puglia. Unlike other red wines from the region that primarily stand out for their warm opulence, this example impresses with its perfect architecture: a dense and impenetrable color that anticipates a symphony of violets, black forest fruits, and fine spices, guarded by an impeccable tannic structure that gives it a distinguished, sober, and highly gastronomic character.

2. Luxury Tasting Notes

Appearance: Presents an intense and concentrated ruby red color, with captivating and impenetrable garnet reflections at the core.

Nose: Sophisticated and deeply aromatic. Elegant notes of wild flowers, especially fresh violets, immediately merge with aromas of blackcurrants, ripe plum, subtle liquorice, ground black pepper, and an elegant echo of cinnamon and Mediterranean scrub.

Palate: On the palate, it stands out for its firm, enveloping, and highly distinctive character. The tannins reveal themselves as dense and with excellent structure, yet perfectly polished and silky. The integrated acidity provides a vibrant freshness that balances the fruit concentration, leading to a long, elegant, and decidedly spicy finish.

4. Recommended Moments and Pairings

Precision Gourmet Pairing: Its sophisticated spicy profile and tannic structure make it the supreme ally for complex and well-seasoned dishes. It harmonizes extraordinarily with grilled red meat cuts, spicy stews, rosemary lamb, sweet and sour pork ribs, oxtail, and pasta with rich meat sauces like a venison ragu or mature Bolognese. It is also an ideal accompaniment for intense aged cheese boards (aged Pecorino, Parmigiano) and high-end smoked charcuterie.

Suggested Moments:

  • Premium Barbecue: An excellent alternative to elevate the classic grill. Its tannic firmness and pepper notes combine majestically with select cuts of meat, marinated skewers, and artisan sausages.
  • Special Celebration: Perfect for framing anniversaries, significant birthdays, or refined banquets, adding an aristocratic and traditional touch to the celebration.
  • Select Family Meal: Ideal for gracing the Sunday table when preparing roasts, complex lasagnas, or inherited traditional recipes that deserve a high-level wine.
  • Summer (Evening Soirées): Fantastically enjoyed on cool summer evenings outdoors, accompanying aged cheeses or grilled meats under the starlight.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

What is the origin and the winery that produces this red wine?

This red wine is produced by the prestigious and historic Bodega Rocca (Vinicola Rocca) in the vineyards of the ancient region of Puglia, in southern Italy.

How does the Nero di Troia grape differ from other Puglian varietals?

Unlike grapes such as Primitivo (which tends to be more opulent and very sweet), Nero di Troia stands out for a much more elegant, aristocratic, and balanced profile. It offers refreshing acidity, characteristic floral aromas of violets, and a firmer, more sophisticated tannic structure.

Is it necessary to decant Rocca Nero di Troia?

Although not strictly mandatory, it is highly recommended to open the bottle 15 to 20 minutes before consuming it or serving it in large glasses. This allows the wine to oxygenate properly, releasing all its floral complexity and softening the tannic attack on the palate.

At what temperature is it recommended to serve?

It is recommended to serve at a controlled temperature of between 16°C and 18°C to appreciate its fruit balance, medium-high body, and distinguished aromatic bouquet.
