PINOT NERO
FRANZ HAAS 2020

FRANZ HAAS WINERY • ALTO ADIGE • ITALY

"The soul of the glaciers: a red that defies gravity, where the delicacy of the grape meets the rigor of the Alps."

🇮🇹 ORIGIN: ALTO ADIGE DOC, ITALY | 🍇 100% PINOT NERO | 🏔️ HIGH ALTITUDE VITICULTURE

The Mastery of the Dolomites

Franz Haas Pinot Nero 2020 is considered by many critics to be the definitive Pinot Nero from Italy. Produced in **Alto Adige (Sudtirol)**, this wine is the result of a meticulous selection of plots located between 350 and 900 meters above sea level. The **Franz Haas** winery is famous for its artistic labels (designed by Riccardo Schweizer) and for a winemaking technique that uses oak barrels to provide structure, while always maintaining the purity of the varietal. The 2020 vintage stands out for an exceptional harmony between alcohol, tannins, and an almost electric mineral acidity.

1. Identity Profile

Specific Origin: Montagna, Egna, and Pinzano, Alto Adige, Italy.

Winery: Franz Haas.

Varietal: 100% Pinot Nero (French clones).

Aging: 12 to 15 months in oak barrels and extended bottle aging.

Vintage: 2020 (Elegant, fresh, and exceptionally balanced).

Volume: 750 ml.

2. Sommelier's Notes

Appearance: Transparent ruby red, luminous and fluid, with the classic hue of high mountains.

Nose: A display of small red fruits: raspberries, sour cherries, and wild strawberries. Notes of cloves, cinnamon, and a subtle background of undergrowth and fine leather appear.

Palate: Extremely elegant. The tannins are silky and the vibrant acidity cleanses the palate. It is a persistent wine that leaves a very pleasant mineral and spicy aftertaste.

3. Alpine Pinot Nero Architecture

4. Pairing and Serving

Cuisine: Its versatility is astonishing. It pairs with duck dishes, quail with figs, wild mushrooms, black truffle risotto, and fatty fish like tuna or grilled salmon. It's also perfect with soft mature cheeses.

Serving: Serve at **15°C - 16°C** (cool). Do not use heavy red wine glasses; prefer large "Bourgogne" type glasses to capture its delicate perfume.

Is it suitable for vegans?

Franz Haas follows practices of minimal intervention and absolute respect for the alpine ecosystem, making it a wine of exceptionally high technical purity.
