LOS DOMINIOS DE BERCEO
PRE-PHYLLOXERA 2021
HARO • PIE FRANCO • D.O.CA. RIOJA • SPAIN
"An archaeological treasure of Riojan viticulture: the indomitable purity of ungrafted vines expressed in an aristocratic red of mystical depth."
A Liquid Jewel Saved from Time
The Los Dominios de Berceo Pre-Phylloxera 750ml Red Wine is one of the most exclusive and coveted oenological works of art in Spain. Crafted by the iconic, two-century-old Gonzalo de Berceo winery in Haro, under the strict care of the Manzanos family, this auteur wine pays homage to a handful of miraculous vines that resisted the devastation of phylloxera. Being planted as "pie franco" (ungrafted) in very specific clay-limestone soils of the Rioja Alta, these ancestral vines produce clusters with a minuscule yield but with superb biological balance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
What makes a pre-phylloxera wine so expensive and exclusive?
Extreme scarcity. Very few vineyards remain in the world that have survived the 19th-century phylloxera plague. Because they are planted on their own roots (ungrafted), the vines regulate their production, yielding tiny grapes with a concentration of flavors, acidity, and minerals that modern grafted vineyards cannot match.
Is it necessary to decant Los Dominios de Berceo Pre-Phylloxera?
Yes, it is an essential requirement. It is suggested to decant it at least 60 to 90 minutes before consumption.
What is the estimated aging potential for this bottle?
Mythological. This wine can evolve favorably and refine itself in the bottle for the next 15 to 25 years under proper cellar conditions.
