★★★★★ 4.9 / 5 (62 REVIEWS)

"Volcanic power sculpted into silken bubbles. An exquisite, strictly dry and robust Blanc de Noirs, born from the untamed terroir of Etna to delight sybaritic souls."

🇮🇹 ORIGIN: ETNA, SICILY, ITALY | 🍷 STYLE: BLANC DE NOIRS BRUT, DRY, MINERAL AND ROBUST | 🏷️ WINERY: FIRRIATO

Volcanic Elegance, Red Grape Soul, and Traditional Method Aging

The Firriato Gaudensius Blanc De Noir Sparkling White Wine - Wine of Italy is one of the most complex, aristocratic, and unique expressions of the Mediterranean terroir. Created under the highest standards by the prestigious Firriato winery, this author's sparkling wine originates specifically from select high-altitude vineyards located in the Mount Etna area, in Sicily, Italy. It is categorically classified as a strictly dry (Brut) wine, made using the Traditional Method from the indigenous red grape Nerello Mascalese. Meticulous aging on lees gives this sparkling wine a superb and creamy structure, which, together with the natural salinity and minerality of the volcanic soils, gives life to a refined, vertical, and utterly complex oenological label.

2. Luxury Tasting Notes

Appearance: Presents a brilliant and impeccable straw yellow color, enriched with light and elegant coppery and salmon reflections, typical of the noble red grape from which it originates. Exhibits a very fine, constant, and noble perlage, with continuous strings of bubbles that crown with distinction.

Nose: A complex, regal, and magnificently structured bouquet. Fine notes of small red fruits (currants, wild raspberries) stand out, intertwined with floral aromas of orange blossom and citrus nuances. As it opens, it unfolds sumptuous hints of bread crust, toasted brioche, dried fruits, and an imposing mineral character of smoke and flint.

Palate: Superb entry, with great temperament, volume, and vinosity on the palate. On the palate, it is strictly dry, showing vibrant acidity and a robust progression sustained by the subtle structure of Nerello Mascalese. The finish is extraordinarily prolonged, elegant, with persistent salinity and a sophisticated mineral aftertaste.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

What is the specific origin and winery of this sparkling white wine?

This impressive sparkling wine is meticulously crafted by the prestigious and multi-award-winning Firriato winery. Its specific origin comes strictly from the slopes of Mount Etna, a unique, high-altitude terroir located on the island of Sicily, Italy.

Is this wine dry, semi-dry, or sweet?

The Firriato Gaudensius Blanc De Noir is strictly dry. Classified as Brut, it has an impeccable balance and a minimal amount of residual sugar, ensuring an extremely fresh, vertical, clean, and highly gastronomic experience on the palate.

What does the Nerello Mascalese grape contribute to this sparkling wine?

Nerello Mascalese is a noble red grape from Etna. When vinified as white for this Blanc de Noir, it gives the wine a superior structure and body compared to a common white sparkling wine, providing subtle hints of forest fruits, superb acidity, and great aging potential.

How long can this wine be cellared?

Thanks to the complexity of its traditional method and the enormous freshness of its volcanic soils, this sparkling wine has excellent aging potential of 3 to 5 years under optimal conditions (horizontal bottle, constant temperature, and absence of light), gaining even more creaminess and toasted notes.
