A Historic Vineyard in Pessac-Léognan
Château Smith Haut Lafitte has a history that goes back to 1365. In the 18th century the Scotsman George Smith acquired the estate and gave it his name, and since 1990 it has belonged to Florence and Daniel Cathiard. Its 78 hectares sit on Günz gravels, clay and clay-limestone, a perfectly draining soil that brings mineral complexity and underpins its fame as "the quintessence of Graves". It is Grand Cru Classé de Graves in the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
