AS BRAVAS
GARNACHA 2021

SINGLE VINEYARD WINE • UCO VALLEY • ARGENTINA

"The subtlety of altitude: a Garnacha that dances between the transparency of the fruit and the strength of the terroir."

🇦🇷 ORIGIN: UCO VALLEY, MENDOZA | 🍇 GRAPE: 100% GARNACHA (GRENACHE) | 🏺 WINERY: AS BRAVAS

The Rebirth of a Grape Variety

The As Bravas Garnacha 2021 is a tribute to the diversity of Mendoza. Far from the robust and warm profile of other latitudes, this Garnacha from the As Bravas winery seeks finesse. Sourced from selected vineyards in the Uco Valley, this wine stands out for its translucent color and vibrant energy. It is a red wine that seduces with its apparent simplicity, hiding a mineral complexity and a sharp acidity that makes it one of the best-kept secrets of contemporary Argentine viticulture.

1. Identity Profile

Winery: As Bravas.

Origin: Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina.

Vintage: 2021.

Aging: Fermented and aged in concrete eggs and used foudres to preserve the fruit.

Volume: 750 ml.

Philosophy: Minimal intervention, partial whole cluster fermentation.

2. Sommelier's Notes

Appearance: Brilliant cherry red, translucent and elegant, similar to the transparency of a great Pinot Noir.

Nose: An explosion of fresh red fruits like raspberries and wild strawberries. Delicate herbal notes, black tea, and a touch of orange peel provide freshness.

Palate: Light entry but with nerve. It's a vertical wine, with electric acidity and almost imperceptible but present tannins. Its finish is clean, refreshing, and very persistent in fruity notes.

4. Suggested Pairings and Occasions

Gastronomy: Its versatility is amazing. An ideal companion for charcuterie boards, soft goat cheeses, white meats like herb chicken or pork. Pleasantly surprising with Asian cuisine, sushi, or pasta with fresh tomato and basil sauces.

Suggested Occasions:

  • Summer / Evenings: The perfect red for warm climates, served chilled to enjoy outdoors.
  • Family Meal: Its friendly and easy-drinking profile makes it ideal for sharing at diverse tables.
  • Romantic Dinner: Elegant and sophisticated, ideal for those seeking something different from traditional Malbec.
  • Business (Lunches): Being a fluid wine with moderate alcohol, it's perfect for business meals.
  • Gift: For the curious "wine lover" looking to explore new trends from Argentina.
  • Barbecue: Excellent for accompanying appetizers or lean cuts before heavier meats.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

Is Argentine Garnacha the same as Spanish?

They share genetics, but the high-altitude terroir of the Uco Valley gives it a natural freshness and acidity that is often lost in warmer Spanish climates, resulting in a more ethereal wine.

Why is the wine so light in color?

It's a characteristic of the Garnacha variety when vinified with finesse in mind. The light color does not mean a lack of character, but a pursuit of elegance and fruit purity.

How long can it be aged?

It is designed to be drunk young and vibrant. However, it will evolve very well over the next 4 to 6 years.
