ALMA NEGRA
M. BLEND 2016

AUTHOR'S BLEND • UCO VALLEY • ARGENTINA

"Where Malbec finds its most elegant shadow: a profound, mystical, and absolutely refined wine."

🇦🇷 ORIGIN: VISTA FLORES, UCO VALLEY | 🍇 GRAPE: SECRET MALBEC BLEND | 🏺 WINERY: ERNESTO CATENA VINEYARDS

Mystery Made Wine

The Alma Negra M. Blend 2016 is one of Ernesto Catena's most personal creations. This red wine is a tribute to the complexity of the Uco Valley, using selected plots where the altitude and cool climate of the 2016 vintage allowed for a unique aromatic expression. The "M" in its name invites exploration into a labyrinth of sensations where Malbec leads the way, but intertwines with other red varieties to create a more robust, dark, and sophisticated structure than a pure varietal.

1. Identity Profile

Winery: Ernesto Catena Vineyards.

Origin: Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina.

Vintage: 2016.

Aging: 14 to 16 months in French and American oak barrels.

Volume: 750 ml.

2. Sommelier's Notes

Appearance: Deep purplish-red with garnet rim that denotes its noble evolution in the bottle.

Nose: Intense aromas of ripe forest fruits, prune, notes of violets, and a subtle background of black pepper and licorice. The wood contributes hints of vanilla and roasted coffee.

Palate: Broad and enveloping entry. Silky yet firm tannins. It has a balanced acidity that provides freshness despite its concentration. Long finish with hints of cocoa and dried fruits.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

What does the "M" on the label mean?

While the winery keeps part of the secret, the "M" traditionally represents the Mystery of its composition and the high-quality Malbec base that characterizes the line.

Why is the 2016 vintage special?

It was an atypical year in Mendoza, cooler than usual, resulting in wines with superior elegance and natural acidity, moving away from excessively alcoholic wines.

Does it need to be decanted?

Yes, it is recommended to decant for at least 45 minutes. Being a 2016 wine, it needs to oxygenate to release its full aromatic palette accumulated in the bottle.
