WHITE 2023

VIDIGUEIRA • ALENTEJO • RARITY AND ELEGANCE

"Beyond the ordinary: an author's white wine that captures the mineral freshness and noble soul of southern Portugal."

🇵🇹 ORIGIN: VIDIGUEIRA, ALENTEJO, PORTUGAL | 🍷 BLEND OF NOBLE GRAPE VARIETIES | 🏷️ WINERY: MORAIS ROCHA

The Superior Expression of Vidigueira

Incomum Branco 2023 is the white jewel of Morais Rocha. Produced in the high lands of Vidigueira, where the climate is unusually cool for the Alentejo, this wine benefits from a slow maturation that preserves the most delicate primary aromas. It is a wine designed for those looking for something different: a full-bodied white, yet with a verticality and elegance that place it in the high range of contemporary Portuguese wines.

1. Author's Sheet

Winery: Morais Rocha.

Origin: Vidigueira, Alentejo, Portugal.

Vintage: 2023.

Varietals: Selection of Antão Vaz, Arinto, and Verdelho.

2. Sensory Experience

Appearance: Bright straw yellow with steely glints, denoting great freshness.

Nose: Complex and elegant. Notes of citrus fruits, green apple, white flowers, and a subtle mineral background reminiscent of limestone.

Palate: Firm and balanced entry. It has a notable volume but guided by a vibrant acidity. The finish is long, saline, and supremely sophisticated.

4. Pairing and Suggested Moments

Pairing: A white of this caliber demands dishes of equal standing. It pairs perfectly with seafood risottos, baked fish, spiced Thai cuisine, gourmet sushi, and refined goat cheeses. In Mexico, it is sublime with a scallop aguachile or salt-baked fish.

Suggested Moments:

  • Romantic Dinner: Its name and elegant profile make it ideal for a special evening.
  • Business: A wine that projects distinction and good taste for closing important deals.
  • Special Celebration: To toast achievements that are out of the ordinary.
  • Gift: An excellent choice for the connoisseur looking for premium Portuguese labels.
  • Summer / Terrace: Although complex, its freshness makes it delicious for a sophisticated sunset.
  • Family Meal: Perfect for accompanying gourmet dishes at weekend gatherings.

frequently asked questions (FAQS)

Is it a barrel-aged wine?

Incomum seeks to highlight the purity of the grape and the terroir. Depending on the winemaker's decision each vintage, it may have a brief passage or lees stirring to gain body without losing its characteristic freshness.

Does it have aging potential?

Yes. Due to its excellent acidity and structure, it is a white that will evolve very well in the bottle for the next 3 to 4 years.

Where in Alentejo does it come from?

From Vidigueira, the southernmost area of Alentejo but, paradoxically, one of the freshest thanks to its orography, which makes it the capital of great Portuguese white wines.
